San Pedro already has peaches produced in an integrated way

After three years of work, the month of October 2001 marks a milestone in the history of the peach in the northeast of the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina). For the first time a peach produced under a protocol, harvest and packaging is being harvested, and it marks the direct path towards integrated production and its certification. The first varieties that are being worked belong to Jorge Taurizano and INTA. The warehouse chosen is Frutales S.A.

The protagonists are seven producers, INTA San Pedro, the municipality of that party and the IDEB. History began to be written in 1999, but it will be in this 2001-2002 campaign when it will bear the first fruits, and the year 2002 will outline the path that will allow it to obtain its certification. Already in 1997 the San Pedro Agricultural Experiment Station had produced peaches following a protocol in agreement with the CTIFL of France and with producers from Cambio Rural. This is a step forward, but this time oriented towards “integrated production”, so required in Europe and by international markets. After a complete campaign of work, trays are coming out that bring together the logos and the efforts of the producers who opted for the pilot experience.
