The Buenos Aires firm in charge of making the first shipment is the family business Finca Verde. “The sweet potato is one of the traditional crops of San Pedro, with history and economic representation,” said one of the producers.

The family firm Finca Verde, from the Buenos Aires town of San Pedro, made the first shipment of sweet potatoes to England, with the participation of the Secretary of Agroindustry of the Nation, Luis Miguel Etchevehere .

“Our greatest capital is the producers, that is why we seek to give them the conditions to progress,” said Etchevehere while touring the company, which exported 22 tons of sweet potatoes to England.

The National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) and the Institute of Plant Pathology (IPAVE) collaborated to reach this production of five containers as a test, Agroindustria recalled in a statement .

“This export reinforces the place of excellence that our food has on this scale and also the importance of the work carried out by INTA”, added the head of the agro-industrial portfolio, who urged the company to look to the Chinese market.

For his part, Agustín Taurizano, one of the owners of Finca Verde, pointed out that “sweet potatoes are one of the traditional crops of San Pedro, with history and economic representation.”
